About The Role

We are seeking an experienced Lead AI Engineer / Lead Developer (m/w/d) to spearhead the development of our in-house AI capabilities. This pivotal role involves building and leading a new, company-wide AI team focused on Large Language Models (LLMs), scalable system architectures, and production-ready AI applications. As the technological backbone for all future AI products at Jung, DMS & Cie. AG, you will shape our AI strategy, develop innovative solutions with genuine business impact, and ensure seamless integration into our existing systems. You will have the opportunity to influence the company’s AI vision, build a high-performing team, and work on projects that redefine our advisory and operational processes.

Qualifications

The ideal candidate will possess a minimum of three years of relevant experience in software development, data science, or AI engineering, particularly with a focus on deploying scalable AI systems. You should have a strong background in modern AI architectures, including Large Language Models such as GPT, Claude, Mistral, or LLaMA, as well as retrieval-augmented generation (RAG), semantic search, and agent-based systems. Experience with MLOps/LLMOps, vector databases, and AI tool orchestration is essential. Proficiency in Python is required, and familiarity with .NET (C#) and TypeScript/JavaScript is highly desirable. Candidates should also have experience working with cloud infrastructures like Azure, AWS, or GCP, along with excellent strategic thinking, team leadership, and communication skills in both German and English.

Responsibilities

Lead the technical development and management of a new, enterprise-wide AI team, guiding up to six specialists.Design, develop, and scale AI-driven applications, including digital insurance advisors, intelligent document processing, and policy analysis tools.Build and oversee a comprehensive AI platform focusing on LLMs, RAG architectures, agent systems, and modular pipelines.Develop production-ready LLM and agent-based systems, ensuring robustness, scalability, and security.Select appropriate tools and manage infrastructure decisions, whether on-premises or cloud-based (Azure, AWS, GCP).Integrate AI solutions into existing application landscapes, particularly within a .NET environment, and develop API-based systems.Establish a scalable architecture supporting multiple business units with centralized AI infrastructure and decentralized use cases.Coach and mentor team members, fostering a culture of innovation and continuous improvement.Collaborate closely with IT, business units, and executive leadership from initial concept to operational deployment.
